DIRECTOR, AGRIBUSINESS AND CONTINUING EDUCATION ( UZ Agro Industrial Park) UNIVERSITY OF ZIMBABWE Applications from suitably qualified members are invited to fill the following posts: FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE, ENVIRONMENT AND FOOD SYSTEMS DIRECTOR, AGRIBUSINESS AND CONTINUING EDUCATION The University of Zimbabwe (UZ) seeks to hire a suitable candidate to lead the newly created Directorate of Agribusiness and Continuing Education. The Directorate under the Faculty of Agriculture, Environment and Food Systems is responsible for coordinating the UZ innovation and research ecosystem through the UZ Agro-Industrial Park as well as coordinating continuing practical agricultural education for University students and the farming community at large. The director will report to the Dean and the Board of Management of the UZ Agro Industrial Park. Duties and Responsibilities The incumbent will have among others, the following duties and responsibilities: - Develop and implement a long-term strategy for the development of the Agro-Industrial Park; - Be a feedback link within the UZ research, innovation and industrialization ecosystem; - Oversee the agribusiness development of the Agro-Industrial Park; - Coordinate all farming enterprises through the relevant managers; - Actively seek and develop progressive value addition initiatives for agricultural produce from the farm; - Organize and implement on-farm continuing education for the farming community; - Organize open days and public expos to showcase new farming technologies developed by the University or its partners and to network with the stakeholders; - Manage the real estate and infrastructure on behalf of the Board of Trustees; - Prepare periodic financial and management reports for the Board of Management and Board of Trustees; - Any other duties as may be assigned by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Environment and Food Systems and the Vice Chancellor.
Desired Qualifications and Attributes The position of director is a senior position and applicants must preferably be highly experienced individuals in possession of a relevant post graduate degree in agriculture, agribusiness, and/or agricultural innovation. Experience in a similar management position or as an academic is a requirement for the job.
