Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced, self-motivated and results oriented individuals to fill the above position within the broking unit of a leading Financial Services Group.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1. FINANCIALREPORTING

1.1 Produce accurate monthly, half year and year-end accounting reports in conformity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) & International Accounting standards (IASs). 1.2 Prepare the Company's Annual Report in accordance to IFRSs and other regulatory authorities 1.3 Interpret and apply the effect of changes in IFRSs that affect the Company. 1.4 Manage day to day financial accounting matters for the Company. 1.5 Review and improve financial reporting processes in line with the reporting norms and requirements. 1.6 Process accurate monthly financial results. 1.7 Co-ordinate internal and external audits and other professional assignments carried by the company. 1.8 Monitor and maintain internal control systems such as reconciliations.
2. BUDGETING AND BUDGETARY CONTROL 2.1 Prepare and implement an annual budget for the company in line with the operating environment trends. 2.2 Prepare analytical reports to track financial progress against budgets and targets. 2.3 Ensure detailed monthly analysis of the Company's revenue and expenditure outcomes and recommend operational and strategic solutions. 2.4 ensure effective management accounting, costing of contracts, tariffs, etc. 2.5 Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control.

3. TREASURY MANAGEMENT 3.1 Ensure inter-company reconciliations are up-to-date and paid up. 3.2 Ensure creditors are paid on time, tax, etc. 3.3 Manage working capital of the company. 3.4 Ensure the company's accounts are well funded. 3.5 Oversee and ensure effective management ofthe Payments & Petty cash functions.
4. CORPORATE GOVERNANCE/COMPANY SECRETARIAL 4.1 Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements. 4.2 Ensure company returns are prepared and submitted on time. 4.3 Produce Board Financial Reports for the Company. 4.4 Attend Executive Committee and Board meetings to present the financial reports. 5. RISK MANAGEMENT AND PENSION FUND ADMINISTRATION 5.1 Ensure that the insurance portfolio is up to
date and limits are adequate. 5.2 Ensure the Risk Management Plan is in place and is continually updated 5.3 Manage the investment portfolio and financial resource allocation 5.4 Identify and monitor liquidity risk, financial risk, operational risk, interest rate risk, etc.

6. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT 6.2 Put in place job descriptions accompanied by performance targets. 6.2 Identify training needs & facilitate necessary training. 6.3 Counsel and discipline staff. 6.4 Maintain a healthy industrial relations climate. 6.5 Motivate staff to achieve greater productivity. 6.6 Conduct regular performance reviews. 6.7 Encourage a spirit of team-building among members of staff.

7. ANY OTHER DUTIES 7.1 Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by Management from time to time.

Work/Educational Requirements

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

• 6 0' Level passes including English and Mathematics all obtained within no more than two sittings, passed with a symbol 13' or better and at least 2 Advanced Level passes. • Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance Business. • A relevant 3-4 Year Finance or Accounting University Degree. • Master's Degree or progress towards attainment of same an added advantage. • Full post-graduate professional course (ACCA, CI MA, CA). • Sound knowledge of IFRSs and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles • At least 3 years' post-graduate experience. • In-depth knowledge of Short term, LongTerm and Broking Services. • Ability to interpret and communicate legislative provisions; regulatory requirements, etc. • Good communication skills and ability to relate at a 11 levels. • Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of others. • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. • Good organizational and time management skills. • Energy and enthusiasm, integrity and attention to detail. • Efficiency, service orientation and professionalism. • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPo int, etc.
