Description

Higherlife Foundation is seeking the services of a highly qualified and experienced Head - Social Business Unit Operations who will be responsible for the day to day operational activities of the 10 SBU Offices in providing operational support to the 5 key pillars of Education, Health, Job Creation & Sustainable Development, Girls Empowerment and Leadership & Lifelong Development. This position will report to the Program Director

Work/Educational Requirements

Qualifications and Experience	• Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent.
• Postgraduate Degree is an added advantage. Preferably in Development Studies or Management.
• At least 4 - 6 years in a similar field with 2 years in a senior managerial role.
• Persuasive presentation and communication skills; ability to independently convey complex concepts to a variety of audiences.
• Experience leading or providing strong project management initiatives in education, health, leadership and sustainable livelihoods; 
• Excellent project/program management, leadership and organizational skills. 
• Proven ability to define and execute strategies.
• Possess ability to build and nurture relationships with education, health, leadership and sustainable leaders from foundations, bilateral and multilateral agencies, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, universities and consulting firms.
• Able to relate to a diverse community; derives enjoyment from building an authentic rapport with those who have varying viewpoints and perspectives; 
• Possess impeccable integrity, entrepreneurial spirit and striving for continuous improvement. 
• Demonstrated understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment and a commitment to HLF’s approach and values. 
• Representational skills including experience developing networks and relationships with government, civil society and other stakeholders

To Apply

Key Result Areas	• Participates in and contributes to the Annual Business Plans for all Social Business Units (SBUs).
• Develops operational plans to deliver the required support or interventions in the HLF Strategy Pillars (Education, Health, Job Creation & Sustainable Livelihoods, Girls Empowerment and Leadership and Lifelong Development).
• Manages and assures overall Program delivery in terms of quality, cost-effectiveness and timeliness.
• Provides technical leadership and administrative support to Senior Associates in SBUs and translates pillar objectives into SBU activity plans.
• Evaluates performance progress of the SBU operations and devises interventions where necessary.
• Prepares and consolidates SBU operations reports with recommendations and submits to Programs Director.
• Conducts field visits to monitor, assess performance and check operational compliance to HLF policies by all SBUs.
• Analyses and improves organizational processes, and work to improve quality, productivity and efficiency.
• Reviews and consolidates monthly and quarterly Program Reports for presentation and review by the Program Director.
• Ensures all key provincial and national stakeholder (Government departments (MoPSE, Local Govt, Social Welfare) engagements are reported through weekly meetings and reports by SBUs.
• Engages with selected key stakeholders through visits and attending to local events and appraises stakeholders on the work of the organization.
• Receives and consolidates SBU Operations budget in line with departmental requirements.
• Authorises specific expenditure for all SBUs in accordance with HLF’s delegation of authority ,policies and procedures
• Checks and monitors the budget on monthly basis, identifies variances and takes appropriate action in the event of budget overruns/under expenditure
• Carries out evaluation of staff, identifies performance strengths and deficiencies, and arranges for necessary action 
• Ensure that the department adheres to all internal audit standards and that findings are resolved within the agreed timeframes
• Ensures that the department complies with Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Policies as guided by internal regulations
