Job Description The Livestock Officer will be responsible for providing technical support/advice to project on livestock management, Vaccine administration and Feed for livestock support implementation including linking livestock groups to input and output markets. Key duties and Responsibilities • Conducts community mobilisation and sensitisation (dip tank committee members and Community Animal healthy Facilitators) • Identifies and capacitates existing livestock committee members on livestock management and vaccine administration. • Facilitates and trains livestock farmer groups in fodder feed formulation and hay making. • Facilitates linkages of pen fattening groups to input and output suppliers and linking to markets. • Provide technical support and supervision to Ward based Extension staff including capacity building trainings, coaching, mentoring and monitoring of LDCs and VEWs. • Maintain coordination and linkage with various stakeholders at community and district level • Monitor Stock levels and sales performance of established livestock feed and vaccine selling points • Facilitating trainings on enterprise Development , Livestock inputs sales business canvas model , value chain development, Feed formulation • Assists in identification of opportunities to link farmers with lucrative markets( Vaccine, stock feeds and Acaricides suppliers) • Monitors and documents performance of farmer groups on feed for livestock support and vaccine administration • Participates in the Livestock Field days and collaborate with district based Veterinary department extension staff • Coordinate with other project consortium partners on livestock related interventions
Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, Livestock Development, Animal Health or related field • 4-5 years of proven and livestock management and livestock extension services in development work or related Additional Information • Experience, skills and knowledge in animal health, Vaccine management and Administration, Feed formulation • Excellent communication and report writing skills. • Good interpersonal skills.
