Duration: 6 months

Welthungerhilfe is one of the largest German non-governmental organisations in development co- operation and emergency relief. Primarily in co-operation with local partner organisations, our task is to contribute to the improvement in nutritional and income base for the low-income populations in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Welthungerhilfe has been implementing projects in Zimbabwe since 1980. Sector focus is on WASH, Food and Nutrition Security, Livelihoods and when necessary, Emergency response. Welthungerhilfe is urgently recruiting for suitably qualified candidates to fill the above vacancy.

Key Responsibilities
Working with WHH Officers and all stakeholders in the related assignment to carry out thorough technical assessments of all WASH systems infrastructure in the project area; Assisting in the trouble-shooting of mal-functioning WASH Systems or and come up with bill of quantities of needed items/equipment/spares for the rehabilitation of these facilities; Assisting WASH Officers in producing all necessary standard engineering drawings, designs and checklists for all identified WASH infrastructure targeted for rehabilitation in the project area. (motorized water reticulation systems, solar piped water schemes, liquid waste management systems/networks); Help in facilitating capacity building and skills transfer of stakeholders and water operators to improve on sustainability of these WASH infrastructure; Assisting WASH officers by ensuring that all engineering works are done to satisfaction following set guidelines and specifications through supervising the contractors.

Work/Educational Requirements

Qualifications and Skills required
Recent undergraduate degree program in Irrigation Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field; Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously; Willingness to work with communities at grassroots level; Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment; Good teamwork and interpersonal skills; Knowledge in monitoring and evaluation system design and approaches; Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet applications
